Who Qualifies for WIC?*
We invite you to apply for WIC if you live in San Diego County or Imperial County and meet one of the following:
- Are pregnant (counts as two people) or
-
Experienced a pregnancy loss/termination or
- Gave birth within the last six months or
- Are breastfeeding a baby under age 1 or
- Have a child under age 5 (including foster children, legal guardians and single fathers)
AND meet the following income requirements:

You may still qualify if you don’t meet the income requirements but you receive:

Your WIC agency will reach out to you within 3 business days to continue the screening process.

Gather the following paperwork in preparation for your phone appointment and enrollment:
- ID for anyone enrolling (including children)
- Document verifying your residence in California
- If applicable:
- Proof of employment like a paycheck or tax return
- Document verifying pregnancy

Go to your over-the-phone or in-person appointment on the date and at the time you scheduled. If you qualify, your benefits are available immediately.

If you have scheduled an in-person appointment, here are a few things to note before you come in.
- Masks are optional.
- If you or any member of your household have flu-like symptoms, please do not come to your WIC office. You can still get your benefits!
- Contact your WIC counselor to complete your appointment remotely or reschedule.
- Contact a healthcare professional about your symptoms.
